The healthcare finance industry is undergoing rapid change, driven by new regulations, advancing technologies and shifting workforce needs. HFMA recognized a growing challenge: many early- to mid-career professionals lacked access to structured leadership development and external career support.

Without a formal pathway to build leadership skills and professional connections, talented members risked stagnating at a critical point in their careers. HFMA needed a scalable, high-quality solution that could deliver real career impact while strengthening the value of membership.

To meet this need, HFMA created the Emerging Leaders Mentoring Program as a strategic member benefit, partnering with Art of Mentoring to design and deliver a structured initiative that would empower members to grow, connect and lead effectively in a complex industry.

The Solution

A structured six-month program built for healthcare finance leaders

HFMA launched the Emerging Leaders Mentoring Program as a structured six-month initiative offering one-on-one mentoring, targeted resources and support to help members build confidence, grow their careers and lead effectively in a changing healthcare finance environment.

Both mentors and mentees complete online training, mid-program progress review workshops and have access to the full suite of Art of Mentoring resources. Clear participation guidelines promote accountability and high retention rates throughout the program.

Now in its third cohort, the program continues to demonstrate measurable impact. It strengthens HFMA’s member value while building a connected, future-ready leadership pipeline for the healthcare finance sector.
