The Challenge
Building a culture of growth and leadership within a state-wide organisation
As a large, state-wide regulatory organisation, the NSW Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) recognised the need to invest in its people from within. With teams spread across the state, building meaningful professional connections and providing consistent leadership development support was a genuine challenge.
Without a structured internal mentoring pathway, employees had limited access to the guidance, networks and career development opportunities that more senior colleagues could offer. NRAR sought to change this by creating a formal program that would connect people across the organisation and foster a culture of continuous learning.
I think the best thing about the mentorship program is the networking ability. This is especially true in large state-wide organisations such as the one I work in.

The Solution
A strategic internal mentoring program designed for impact
Art of Mentoring partnered with NRAR to design and deliver an internal mentoring program aimed at cultivating a culture of professional growth, knowledge sharing and leadership development within the organisation.
Through strategic mentorship pairings between experienced professionals and mentees, the program fosters a supportive environment where individuals can exchange insights, enhance skills and navigate career advancement opportunities.
Art of Mentoring provides a pathway to empower mentees to achieve their full potential through personalised guidance, constructive feedback and access to valuable resources. The program endeavours to foster a sense of community, collaboration and continuous learning, enriching the professional lives of all participants and contributing to the long-term success of the organisation.
Building connections across a state-wide organisation
One of the program’s key strengths is its ability to connect people across a large, geographically dispersed organisation. By pairing mentees with experienced professionals from across the state, NRAR participants gain access to networks, perspectives and career insights that would otherwise be difficult to access in their day-to-day roles.
Satisfaction from watching my mentee grow in skill and confidence and seeing them take on new challenges.
